Q

What is the digestive tract

A

The enteric nervous system (ens)
Located in the digestive tract
Is responsible for autonomous functions
Can operate independently of the brain and spinal chord

A

Initiation of reflexes from ventral horn, lateral horn, grey matter
Pathways for sensory and motor functions between periphery and brain

Q

What is the circulatory system

A

Organ system which permits blood to circulate and transport nutrients, organ and co2, hormones and blood cells to and from the cells in the body to provide nourishment and help in fighting diseases, stabilising temp and ph and maintain homeostasis.

16
Q

What is the endocrine system

A

Collection of glands that secrets hormones directly into the circulatory system to be carried to target organs

17
Q

What is the immune system

A

A host defence system. Comprising of biological structures and processes which protects against disease.

18
Q

What is the lymphatic system

A

Part of the circulatory system and vital part of immune system. A network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph towards the heart.

19
Q

What is the muscular system.

A

Comprised of skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles. Permits movement of the body, maintains posture and circulates blood through the body. Controlled by the nervous system

20
Q

What is the skeletal system

A

All the joints and bones of the body. Each bone is a living organ made up of cells, protein, fibres and minerals. Provides support and protection for soft tissues. Provides attachments points for muscles to allow join movements.

21
Q

What is the urinary system.

A

Rental system. Contains kidneys, uterers, bladder and urethras. Eliminates waste from the body, regulates blood volume and pressure, controls electrolyte levels.
