Nephrotic syndrome and chronic kidney disease.
It generally presents in young adults.

- secondary to other renal pathology e.g. IgA nephropathy, reflux nephropathy

High recurrence rate in renal transplants.
What is the main investigation for focal segmental glomerulonephritis?
Renal biopsy
What would you find on light microscopy of someone with focal segmental glomerulonephritis?
Focal and segmental sclerosis and hyalinosis
What would you find on electron microscopy of someone with focal segmental glomerulonephritis?
Effacement of foot processes
What is the management of focal segmental glomerulonephritis?
Steroids +/- immunosuppressants
What chance of spontaneous remission is there with untreated focal segmental glomerulosclerosis?
untreated FSGS has a < 10% chance of spontaneous remission
