export_resp histo Flashcards
Name the two types of epithelium seen in the larynx
- non-keratinised strat sq epi (superior)
* pseudostrat ciliated columnar epi (inferior)
Name the portions of the respiratory zone
resp bronchioles, alv ducts, alv sac and alveoli
What epithelia is seen in both trachea and bronchi?
resp epi
In the bronchioles what is the epi seen?
ciliated simple columnar –> simple cuboidal wo globlet cells
Are hyaline rings seen in the bronchioles?
No, replaced by irregular cartilage dissapear in terminal bronchioles
What cells are seen in term bronchioles?
Clara cells
What are clara cells?
cells which prob surfactant (amongst other stuff). non ciliated
What are mesothelial cells?
cells which line visceral pleura.
mvilli on apical surface
secrete serous fluid
Name the four layers of the resp membrane
- Type I and II alveocytes
- epi basal layer
- cap basal layer
- cap endo cells
What is the only difference between terminal and resp bronchioles?
Alveolar outpouching
How is the smooth muscle arranged in resp bronchioles?
in fascicles
where do alveolar ducts open into..
Alveolar sacs
What are Alveolar sacs?
grapelike clusters of alveoli arrayed around a central sapce called atrium
What separates alveolar ducts, sacs etc?
Intra-avleolar septa
What does the pulmonary arteries and tracheabronchial tree share in common?
the adventitia
