Q

During Exercise what happens to our body?

A
  • Body needs a great deal of enegry for Muscle contraction:
  • So body has to increase the demand for energy.
  • body has to react to the increased demand of energy.
  • More energy needed by the body= Increase aerobic respiration.

Q

How does the body get more oxygen?

A
  • Breathing rate + Breathing volume increases.
  • Breathe: More frequently.
  • Take deeper breathes.
  • Gets more oxygen into the blood stream.
    Heart rate: Increases.
  • Pump oxygenated blood around the body.

Q

Anaerobic respiration:

A
  • Glucose —> Lactic Acid.
  • When muscles respire anearobically:
  • Glucose is converted into lactic acid.
  • No oxygen is needed.
  • Releases less energy because:
  • Oxidation of glucose molecules is incomplete.

Lactic Acid damaging:

  • Causes person to become fatigue in long periods of exercise.
  • Causes muscles to stop contracting effiencently.

Q

What happens to the lactic acid?

A
  • Transported out of the muscles by the blood.
  • Taken to liver converted back into glucose in a series of chemical reactions.
  • Reacting with the lactic acid and removing it requires oxygen.
