What are communicable diseases?

A
  • Can spread from one person to another person and is infectious.
  • Spread by pathogens such as bacteria or viruses.

What is non-communicable diseases?

A
  • Cannot be passed from one person to another.
  • Non-infectious.
  • E.g: Coronary Heart Diseases.

  • Defined as the state of physical and mental-well being.
  • Ill health can be caused by both;
  • Communicable and Non-Communicable diseases.

What is HPV?

A
  • Extremely common.
  • In most people it is harmless.
  • Some people: HPV can cause cervical cancer.
  • Around 3000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year in the uk.

  • HPV.

- Infects the cells of the cervix.

  • immune system.
  • E.g: Allergies.
  • Asthma.
  • Body is infected by a pathogen that the immune system fights off but person is left with an allergy.
