8
Q

3 assumptions of skinfold testing

A

-skinfold is a good measure of subcutaneous fat
-the distribution of fat (subcutaneous vs internal) is similar for all individuals within each sex
-there is a LINEAR relationship between the sum of skinfolds + body density

16
Q

abdomen fold

A

vertical

17
Q

triceps

A

posterior midline of upper arm, halfway between acromion + olecranon processes

18
Q

triceps fold

A

vertical

19
Q

triceps- what is important in protocol

A

make sure subject’s arm is relaxed + held freely on the side

20
Q

chest- men

A

½ distance between anterior axillary line + nipple

21
Q

chest- women

A

1/3 distance between anterior axillary line + nipple

22
Q

chest fold

A

diagonal

23
Q

midaxillary

A

-ask subject to move arm back or raise it up
-locate midaxillary line at the level of xiphoid process of sternum

24
Q

midaxillary fold

A

vertical

25
Q

subscapular

A

-ask subject to put arms behind his/her back to help locating sites
-locate scapula + pinch 1-2 cm below inferior angle of scapula

26
Q

subscapular fold

A

diagonal

27
Q

suprailiac

A

-ask subject to locate iliac crest (hip bone) for you
-taken immediately superior to the iliac crest (in line with natural angle of iliac crest) at anterior axillary line

28
Q

suprailiac fold

A

diagonal

29
Q

thigh

A

-ask subject to shift body weight to left leg, + have right knee slightly flexed + right leg totally relaxed
-locate anterior midline of thigh
-taken halfway between PROXIMAL patella + inguinal crease (hip)

30
Q

thigh fold

A

vertical
