Describe the national living wage regulations 2016
states the lowest amount an employee should be paid to have a reasonable standard of living
applies to employees over 21
Describe the equality act 2010
people must be treated the same regardless of gender, race, religion
policies are put in place to ensure this happens in the workplace
employees are protected when being recruited, trained or promoted
Describe the employment rights act 1996
a contract of employment must be received within 2 months of starting employment
must give an employer a reasonable period of notice
the right to maternity leave
employees entitled to redundancy payments if they are made redundant
Cannot be forced to work on a Sunday unless it is in your Contract of Employment.
Describe the health and safety at work act 1974
set out responsibilities of employee and employer in order to prevent injuries or accidents in the workplace

provide protective clothing/equipment if necessart
provide staff with health and safety training

Extra time should be given in tests to employees with learning difficulties
Applicants should not be asked about plans for having children in the future
