A

The urgency of landing is paramount. Primary consideration is to assure survival of the
occupants. Landing in water, trees or other unsafe areas should be considered only as a last
resort.

1. FIRE sw (affected engine) – Raise guard, press
NOTE Affected engine will shut down automatically, ACTIVE indicatior light, BOT 1
legend (both EMER OFF SW pnl), and F VALVE CL caution indication (CAD)
come on. FIRE legend remains on as long as overheat condition exists.
2. Both FUEL PRIME PUMPS – Check OFF
3. BOT 1/BOT 2 pb – Press; bottle 1 activated;
– EXT indicator light comes on
(EMER OFF SW pnl)
NOTE Extinguisher bottle will begin discharging when N1t 50%. After discharge of
bottle contents, BOT 1 legend and EXT indicatior light go off; BOT 2pb legend
comes on.

  1. Clock stop watch – Start (after BOT 1 legend and EXT indicator light go off (EMER OFF SW pnl)
  2. Double engine emergency shutdown – Perform
  3. Passengers – Alert/Evacuate

If situation permits and FIRE warning is still on after 1 minute:
7. BOT 1/BOT 2 pb – Press; bottle 2 activated;
– EXT indicator light comes on

8. BAT MSTR sw – OFF

 IN FLIGHT

NOTE Affected engine will shut down automatically, ACTIVE indicatior light, BOT 1
legend (both EMER OFF SW pnl), and F VALVE CL caution indication (CAD)
come on. FIRE legend remains on as long as overheat condition exists.

  1. BOT 1/BOT 2 pb – Press; bottle 1 activated;
    – EXT indicator light comes on (EMER OFF SW pnl)

NOTE Extinguisher bottle will begin discharging when N1t 50%. After discharge of
bottle contents, BOT 1 legend and EXT indicatior light go off; BOT 2pb legend
comes on.

NOTE XMSN OIL PRESS warning light may come on momentarily during extreme side
slip, sidewards flight, crosswind hover or slope operations.

Procedure
If one XMSN oil pressure indication is below 1.0 bar:

If torque match is not possible:
6. Twist grip (affected engine) – Release stop plate and rotate
towards FLIGHT until N2 and
NRO stabilize in normal range
and FLI needles match
7. LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
If no residual torque (affected engine) is available:

5. Twist grip (affected engine) – Rotate towards IDLE until N2
and NRO stabilize in normal
range and FLI needles match

TAIL ROTOR FAILURE CONDITIONS
3.6.2 Tail Rotor Drive Failure/Fixed-pitch Tail Rotor Control Failure - Forward Flight
Conditions/Indications
– No directional response after pedal inputs and/or
– Complete loss of tail rotor thrust and/or
– Locked pedals
NOTE The procedure will vary depending on flight conditions, power setting and mass of the helicopter.
Procedure

NOTE D Landing surface should be hard (e.g. concrete, asphalt) and flat.
D Left crosswind is advantageous

TAIL ROTOR FAILURE CONDITIONS
3.6.2 Tail Rotor Drive Failure/Fixed-pitch Tail Rotor Control Failure - Forward Flight

Conditions/Indications
– No directional response after pedal inputs and/or
– Complete loss of tail rotor thrust and/or
– Locked pedals

NOTE The procedure will vary depending on flight conditions, power setting and mass of the helicopter.

Procedure

  1. Collective lever – Reduce to obtain minimum sideslip angle
  2. Airspeed – Maintain 70 KIAS or higher
  3. Suitable landing area – Select

NOTE D Landing surface should be hard (e.g. concrete, asphalt) and flat.
D Left crosswind is advantageous

  1. Shallow approach with nose left – Perform
    If the airspeed can be reduced below 40 kts with the nose still pointing to the left:
  2. Airspeed – Reduce close to the ground until nose is aligned with the flight direction
  3. Landing – Perform
    If the nose direction changes from left to right at airspeeds higher than 40 kts:
  4. Airspeed – Increase
  5. Approach – Abort, climb to sufficient
    height for autorotation
    NOTE Headwind is advantageous
  6. Autorotation – Perform

NOTE D In final phase of flare the helicopter can yaw to the left due to friction effects.
