What happened in the Northern rebellion?
Earls of Northumberland and Westmoreland marched south to restore Catholicism and free MQS but the rebellion didn’t gather enough support so it failed.
When was the Ridolfi plot?

What were the aims of the Ridolfi plot?
Remove Elizabeth from power and replace her with MQS as well as marrying her to the Duke of Norfolk.
How was the Ridolfi plot resolved?
Parliament passed two bills,one was Norfolk’s death warrant which Elizabeth signed and the other was MQS death warrant which Elizabeth refused to sign.
When was the Throckmorton plot?

What happened in the Throckmorton plot?
Plans to invade England and liberate MQS made Throckmorton, a Jesuit priest, and de Mendoza, the Spanish ambassador in London.
How was the Throckmorton plot resolved?
Throckmorton was executed with de Mendoza being expelled back to Spain.
Bond of Association was passed and this made it treasonable to become a Catholic priest.
Still pressure from Parliament to execute MQS.

Plot to execute Elizabeth and replace her with MQS.
What did the Babington plot cause?
Finally allowed Parliamennt to force Elizabeth to sign MQS death warrant and she was executed on 8th February 1587.
