Why did the Western rebellion start?
It started as a result of Somerset trying to force all parishes to use the new prayer book of 1549 and this was a shift towards Protestantism.

It was led by two Catholic landowners, sir Humphrey Arundell of Helland and John Winslade of Tregarrick.

He sent Lord Privy Seal, Lord Russell, to crush the rebellion. He annihilated the rebel forces and 4,000 of them died.
