What is the explosive fill contained within the
Cart 30mm OSPEI F7671 (SAPHEI)1A/1W
What is the quantity
HEXAL (RDX, Aluminium and wax)
16 grams
The Cart 30mm OXAS F2271 (TP) is ballistically matched to the operational round. True/False?
True
What are the major component GROUPS of the
FZ BD MR3005?
Cartridge 30mm OSPEI (SAPHEI) F7671
FZ Base FZ Body Rotor Assembly Firing Pin Assembly Priming Relay
At assembly the detonator is loaded to the rotor, which is fitted in WHAT location, and WHAT degree out of alignment?
FZ BD MR3005 for the SAPHEI
At assembly the detonator is loaded to the rotor, which is then fitted in between the two half casings 70 degrees out of alignment to the firing pin channel.
At what distance is the “muzzle safe distance”?
What is the time for Self Destruct to initiate and what force is occuring?
15 metres
6 - 16 Sec time of flight
spin decay
Ejection Velocity xx
Duration of burn xx
Pulse Duration
FLARE COUNTERMEASURE INFRA-RED DSTL 22
- 35 to 55 millisec
- 5.0 sec max
- 10 millisec
Why do they have weighted noses in the DSTL 22 and other flares? x x
FLARE COUNTERMEASURE INFRA-RED DSTL 22
- To increase inertia and thus reduce the deceleration of the payload.
What are the purposes of the alloy wrap on IR pellets? (3) xx
FLARE COUNTERMEASURE INFRA-RED DSTL 22
- Environmental seal for it pellets
- Promotes primer propagation by acting as a momentary gas seal
- Safety function to prevent inadvertent ignition
How and what does a sequencer do?
xx
FLARE COUNTERMEASURE INFRA-RED DSTL 22
- Is to ignite IR Pellets only after they have cleared the dispenser.
- Ignition is positively prevented whilst the payload is being ejected.
Duration of installation? (Time of life)
FLARE COUNTERMEASURE INFRA-RED DSTL 73
90 days or 100 airframe hours
Topic 24
How would the 118 Mk 3 be rendered safe during normal manual handling operations?
FLARE COUNTERMEASURE INFRA-RED 118 MK3
By the inclusion of the sequencer
In order for the flare pellet to be ignited, the take-over cup composition must be initiated followed by movement of the slider to open the flame path, once the sequencer has been jettisoned from the outer case.
Topic 10 Para 7.
What is the CEOFE MT20 used for?
Cartridge, Electrically Operated, Fire Extinguisher, MT20 - Blackhawk
DEOP 701
MT20 is used to release an extinguishing agent from the fire extinguisher in the Blackhawk helicopter.
Topic 10, para 1
Why does the CEOFE use 2 squibs?
They both provide sufficient energy to propel the slug with the force required to rupture the frangible disc
thereby providing a REDUNDANCY should one squib fail to operate
What is the following used for?
Cartridge Impulse - ARD 863-1A1W
Topic 705
- Used to provide gas pressure to eject various stores and release equipment from various aircraft.
The stores may include bombs, fuel tanks, launchers, racks, pylons and other explosive ordnance.
How is the Cart Impulse-ARD initiated?
Topic 10, para 6
Electrically
When the firing current is applied, the bridgewire becomes incandescent causing the ignition composition to ignite

GIAT 30M781 Gun System
ADF ARH Tiger
30mm (SAPHEI) Function from setback
Theory - Fill in blanks
- At firing setback drives the firing pin assembly to the rear and compresses the firing pin spring.
- ## At this point the explosive train is still out of alignment to ensure firing safety
SAPHEI muzzle safety
What is the muzzle safety distance provided by the spiral spring expanding and controlling the outward travel of the pins?
Minimum of 15 metres
The outward rate of travel of the pins is controlled by the rate at which the spiral spring expands and
hereby provides a muzzle safety distance of a minimum of 15 metres.

Spin decay and spring pressure
This will occur as a result of the centrifugal force decaying and allowing the balls to move inwards. The stored energy in the firing pin spring then drives the firing pin forward and the fuze is functioned as normal.
What is the purpose of the contact ring?
When is the shorting clip removed?
Rocket Motor 2.75 inch FZ90 Mod 2/S
- It provides the electrical initiation of the rocket via the detent mechanism in the rocket pod.
- only removed immediately prior to loading of the rocket into the pod
“352 - initial thrust to boom”
- Forward acceleration of the Laser Guided Rocket causes the Electronic Thermal Battery Initiator (ETBI) within the WGU-59/B to activate the 28Vdc thermal battery.
- The CAS, which controls the wings, boots up and the wings deploy once the Laser Guided Rocket has safely separated from the Tiger ARH
- Approx 1 sec after launch from the Tiger ARH the wings of the WGU-59/B instigate de-roll
- Distributed Aperture Semi Active Laser Seeker (DASALS). The DASALS provides a40-degree forward field of view, which enables it to quickly obtain precise target locations based on the detection of laser radiation reflected from a target being lased
- information from the DASALS along with information from the on-board Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) enables the WGU-59/B to steer the 2.75” rocket to the target being lased.
