Detailed Study Flashcards
How many pellets in the Cart 12G Crowd Dispersal M1013?
18 PVC rubber ball pellets
What are the seven parts to the M1013?
Crimp Upper Wad Shell Case 18 Rubber Balls Lower Wad Smokeless Powder Primer
How does a 5.56mm round work?
- On functioning, firing pin strikes primer
- Priming mixture crushed against the anvil. the composition flashes through to the cart case and ignites the propellant.
- The resulting burn creates produces hot gases
- Act on the projectile and drive it forward
- As projectile is driven forward, spin is imparted by the rifling of the barrel. The spin provide stability in flight.
- On impact with the target the strength of the steel nose combined with the mass of the lead core, and the overall projectile velocity, provide a penetration capability.
What propellant does 5.56mm Ball F1 use?
AR2210 - Single based
What propellant does 5.56mm Spec Ball LR M262 Mod 1 use?
0.84g Double based
What propellant does 5.56mm Ball M855 use?
WC844 Double based
What propellant does 5.56mm Ball M855A1 use?
SMP 842 Double based
What is the target penetration effect of a 5.56mm AP AP3 M995?
- 12mm Type 3 Rolled Homogenous Armour at 100m
- 3.5mm standard NATO plate at 600m
What weapon system uses .223?
M4A1
What weapon system uses .338?
Sniper Blaser R93 Tactical 2
How does a tracer round work?
The burning propellant gases ignites the ignition composition and in turn the TRACER composition
What are the parameters for 5.56mm tracer?
-46˚c to +49˚c
What are the parameters for 9mm Ball?
Firing limits -6˚c to +63˚c
What propellant is used in .50cal F1?
Mulwala AR2211 single based - 16g
What propellant is used in .50cal M33?
WC860 Double based - 15.2g
What is SLAP-T used in?
M1A1 Abrams AIMTEST training barrel
How does API-T work?
- Upon impact and/or penetrating a hard steel target at high velocity,
- the incendiary composition ignites by means of adiabatic heating (due to the compression of the projectile nose)
- igniting any present flammable materials within the targeted area.
How does 12.7mm MP NM140 work?
Upon impact with an armoured or hard target target at high velocity,
the nose is compressed ad ignites the incendiary.
-As the projectile passes through the target, pressure continues to build within the nose and the incendiary composition ignites the HE. Deflagration turns to detonation, causing blast and fragments.
The second incendiary charge then burns for approximately one second.
How is the NM140 bullet secured to the cart case?
Coning
How is the .50cal ball secured to the cart case?
Knurled Canneluring
