what is a drug
a chemical substance that can modify chemical reactions in the body
the difference of antibiotics and drugs
antibiotics are drugs which are medicine
what are stimulants
speeds up the action of the nervous system. usually make the user feel more confident and alert
what are depressants
slow down the action of some part of nervous system. the user feels sleepy and less anxious.
what are narcotics
act like depressant but particulary target the brain. they work as pain killers
the difference between emotional addiction and physical addiction
emotional addiction is when the user can’t give up the drug due to pleasurable sensation
physical addiction is when the drug is necessary for the normal working of the body. the user will get withdrawal symptoms such as vomiting and abdominal pain if they don’t take drugs.
problems the drug might lead up to
malnourishment, financial problems, chance of getting HIV
what is heroin
the body’s natural pain killers. gives a pleasurable sense of well-being. It also interacts with the receptors that are sensitive to the neurotransmitter
what is nicotine
a stimulant that mimics the natural neurotransmitter that is concerned with the control of heartbeat and blood pressure
what does alcohol do
slows down impulses in peripheral nerves causing slower reaction
sex organs do not work well
kidney can’t reabsorb water very well
