Where does the sciatic nerve divide into the tibial and common fibular nerve?
anywhere between gluteal region and popliteal fossa- most commonly inferior 1/3rd of thigh
What are the muscles of the posterior thigh muscles?
semimembranosus; semitendinosus; biceps femoris
What is the proximal attachemnt for the semitendinosus; semimembranosus; biceps femoris long heads ?
ischial tuberosity
What is the proximal attachment for the biceps femoris short head?
linea aspera
What is the distal attachment for the semitendinosus?
medial surface of superior part of tibia
What is the distal attachment for the semimembranosus?
posterior part of medial condyle of tibia
What is the distal attachment for the biceps femoris?
lateral side of head of fibula
What nerve supplies hamstrings?
tibial division of sciatic nerve
What nerve supplies short head of biceps femoris?
common fibular division of sciatic nerve
How does the semimembranosus muscle appear?
shiny membranous appearance
Why is the semitendinosus called that?
longer tendon than the other muscles
What is the acetabular labrum?
ring of cartilage that surrounds the acetabulum
What is the function of the acetabular labrum?
increases the depth of the acetabulum
What attaches the femur to the depth of acetabulum?
ligamnet of the head of the femur
What runs within the ligament of the head of hte femur?
artery to the head of femur
