Q

what is the benefit of adding a fluorescent probe?

A

each doubling of DNA doubles the amount of luminescence - small amount of fluorescence doesn’t show up on camera so only shows up when enough DNA has been doubled - can measure between two samples when camera starts to pick up PCR cycle is in exponential phase - measure the difference in amount of RNA
