Q

How has the internet disrupted the business model?

A

It has changed release dates and the form of release; used to be 90 day period from when film was shown in theaters to being available digitally
-studios prefer 90 day period because larger box office tickets sold and leads to higher license fees, more merchandising, and more DVD sales
-theaters want longer periods because they fear losing business
-the 90 day period is decreasing
-Ex: Netflix begins day-to-day release, Amazon window only 1 month
