Definitions Aircraft & Crew Flashcards
What’s an aircraft
any machine that derives support in the atmosphere from the reactitons of air (other than the reaction of air against the earth’s surface)
What’s aircraft category
categorisation of aircraft based on a set of basic characteristics
airship, aeroplane, glider, balloon, helicopter
What’s aircraft type
All aircraft with the same baic design including modifications thereto
except modifications that change the handling or flight characteristcs
Certify as airworthy?
certify that an aircraft or part of complies with the current airworthtiness requirements after maintenance has been performed
Aircraft certified as ‘single pilot operation’
a type of aircraft that its state of registration (during certification process) determines that it can be operated by minimum of one pilot
Pilot
person who manipulates the flightt controls of an aircraft during flight time
Pilot in command
responsible for the operation and safety of an aircraft during flight time
Flight time
total time from the moment the aircraft moves under its own power for the puropose of taking off till the time it comes to rest at the end of the flight
moves at loading point till it stops at unloading point
Instrument flight time
time during which a pilot is piloting an aircraft with its instrument as sole reference and no other external references are used
Instrument ground time
Time during which a pilot is practicing instruments on a simulator (simulated instrument flight)
Dual instruction time
Solo flight time
Dual - flight time during which a person is receiving instruction from authorized pilot
Solo - flight time during which a person is flying solo as PIC
What’s a TMG
Touring Motor Glider
A class of powered sailplane
Aircraft with non-rectractable engine and non-rectratable propeller that takes off and climbs using its own power
Define ‘Cross-country’
flight between a point of departure and point of arrival following a pre-planned route using standard navigation procedures
Intrument time is composed of:
Instrument flight time OR instrument ground time
Rendering a license valid by another state
action taken by a contracting state to accept a license issued by another contracting state
this validity does not extend beyond the validity of original license.
