What is nominal data?
Qualitative values, usually tallied, categories.
What are 3 examples of nominal data?
Gender, rather, marital status.
Why is nominal data ‘awful’?
Apart from saying what occurs the most frequently, is it meaningless.
What is ordinal data?
Scaled or ranked data (ordered).
What are 3 examples of ordinal data?
1-5 of a Likert scale.
A time it takes to do a task.
A house number
What is a likert scale?
A scale of how much you like something.
Why is ordinal data ‘bad’
It is difficult to measure because there is subjectiveness of ranking and the measurements between the places are not standardised or equal.
What is interval data?
Equal measurement intervals, these go down through 0.
Data you get given on a numerical scale.
This scale is in equal measurements.
What are 3 examples of interval data?
Time.
Temperature.
Weight.
Why is interval data ‘good’?
Equal distance between intervals.
Why is ratio data?
Same as interval, but includes an absolute zero.
What are 4 examples of ratio data?
Money, distance, weight, heartbeat.
What is the only difference between ratio data and interval data?
Interval data can go through 0, ration data does not exist under 0.
