Data Integrity + Data Terms Flashcards
what are ways to make data secure?
–automatically back-up data on a hard drive/ cloud storage
–use password protected files
–use a spreadsheet which only accepts relevant values
–limiting how many times the data is transferred
–locking the screen whenever away from the device
what factors can affect data integrity?
–incorrect/misinterpreted data recorded
–human error-so data is entered incorrectly into the computer
–software may be affected by a virus
–computers left unsupervised- so data could be altered
–coaches may not store or save data correctly/securely
quantitative data
contains factual info + numerical data
e.g: cooper 12 min run + bleep test
qualitative data
subjective as it looks at feeling, opinions, emotions
e.g: Borg scale
objective
involves facts + is measurable
subjective
involves opinions + based upon personal opinions, assumptions, interpretations + beliefs
validity
when the test actually measures what it sets out to do
reliability
the test can be repeated accurately with the same outcome
what is the Borg scale?
–a method of rating perceived exertion (RPE)
–measures int. during exercise
–15 point scale
what do you need to consider to make a test valid?
–muscles used
–movement patterns
–types of fitness
what do you need to consider to make a test reliable?
–that tester is experienced
–equipment should be standardised
–sequencing of test is important
–repetition to avoid human error
–motivation
