  • The overall health of the poulation has decreased.
  • Life expectancy plateaued in the 2010s and decreased during COVID. It has begun to rise again, however the absolute and relative proportion of our lives spent in ill-health has increased.
  • Poor quality housing, low income, insecure employment etc increasing.
  • Surge in mental health services demand and chronic illness.
    -Fewer immunisations for children.
  • Decreased participation in key screening programmes e.g breast scans.
  • The public health grant has been slashed by more than 25% in real terms since 2015.
  • Public Health England dissolved in 2021, split into two.
