What are the missed pill rules for POP
If traditional then > 3h need condoms for 2 days
If desogestrel then > 12h need condoms for 2 days
If has sex in that time then need emergency contraception
What are the missed pill rules for COCP
If missed <3 pills then no need to do anything
If missed 2 or more pills depends where you are in your cycle. You need to use emergency contraception for 7 days
- if in week 3 and has had sex then need to miss the pill free week
- if in week 1 of taking pills then need emergency contraception if has had sex in the pill free interval
What is the risk of VTE with the COCP vs normal
Background risk is 5 in 100,000
With COCP 25 in 100,000
What are the emergency contrceptives, when can you take them again if you vomit

- Can take again if vomits within 3 hours
- Works up to 120 hours or 5 days
- Prevents ovulation
Levonorgestrel
- Progesterone
- Prevents ovulation
- Can take again if vomits within 2 hours
- Works up to 72h or 3 days
Copper IUS
- Works up to 120h or 5 days
- Kills sperm
- THIS IS THE BEST ONE, less than 1% will become pregnant

It increases cervical mucous and htins endometrium. It does not always prevent ovulation.
