Ranges from a few days to a few weeks
Are multiple concussions more dangerous than single?
Yes
- they have a more serious effect because they play off of the last concussion not from square one
How do concussions effect cognitive and behavioural consequences?
Takes a long time for the effect to become evident and irreversible
What can concussions lead to? (4)
- Insomnia
- Head aches
- Memory loss
- Violent behaviour

Blows to the head that dont result in any symptoms
In the study done with S100B and concussions what did they find in football players?
There is a correlation of S100B in the blood and the amount of hits they had
What are 6 examples of sport and activities that carry a risk of concussions?
- Accidents and assults
- eg) military injuries (explosives) and the force of a car crash can rattle the brain - Boxing
- Football
- Rugby
- dont use there heads as much
- dont wear helmets - Soccer
- heading the ball puts them at more risk - Hockey
- contact sport/ fights are common

What are some preventions put in place for concussions? (5)
- Air bags
- better than hitting the steering wheel but can still cause a concussion - Bower helmet
- softens the blow - Cant hit someone in the head in NFL or use it as a weapon
- Implemented shorter practice period
- In kids soccer they have eliminated heading the ball
What is predicted for the future of football?
Predicting that it will go extinct because parents are keeping their kids out of football due to the news
