Composite aesthetics Flashcards
what are the domains of composite aesthetics?
- health
- function
- aesthetics
What is the emergence profile?
relates to the natural contour of the tooth (its shape)
What is a diastema?
Is a gap between your teeth can happen anywhere, but most commonly occurring between front two teeth
what are gingival zeniths?
the most apical point of the gingival marginal scallop
what is an occlusal cant?
describes the vertical position of the teeth when the left and right sides are different
what is a smile line? (nasolabial folds)
creases in your skin extending from both sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth
What is the buccal corridor ?
the proportion between the distance between the upper canines and the distance between the corners of the lips in a smile
why is a gingival zenith important?
will help create the desired axial inclination of the tooth by changing the line angle position of the long axis of the tooth
describe lobes
the central incisor has three lobes. The middle lobe being the largest, tends to be depressed and least prominent
describe development grooves
the development grooves divide the lobes and run parallel to the long axis of the tooth
describe transitional line angles
the central and lateral incisors have a mesial and distal transitional line angle which are similar to marginal ridges in posterior teeth. In between transitional line angles, the teeth tend to be flat and at the transitional line angles the tooth curves round and drops into the embrasures
What does shade selection consist of?
Hue
- basic colour
Chroma
- intensity of the colour
what is the golden proportion?
the proportional width of each tooth should be: canine 10%, lateral 15%, central 25%, central 25%, lateral 15%, and canine 10% of the total distance across the anterior segment
