Abbey Cocktail

Absinthe Frappé
1.5oz Absinthe
1/2oz simple syrup
6-8 mint leaves
Muddle mint on the bottom of a frappe, absinthe, or old fashioned glass and top with absinthe, simple syrup and pack with crushed or “cobbled ice”.
What makes a cocktail a frappé?
By definition a frappé cocktail is any cocktail served chilled but in reality is often a cocktail that is served with crushed or cobbled ice or even served from a blender.
What makes a cocktail a cobbler?
A cobbler is a cocktail that is typically shaken and served in a collins glass over crushed or “cobbled ice” with a straw and fruit as a garnish.
Cobblers became famous in the 1830s when ice became more readily available. The Sherry Cobbler is quite possibly the first shaken cocktail ever produced.
Adonis
Perfect aperitif style cocktail. Named after the first successful Broadway musical of the same name. This is the sweet vermouth variation of a Bamboo. Equal parts Fino or Manzanilla Sherry and Sweet Vermouth plus 2 dashes of Orange Bitters.

Bamboo
Equal parts Fino or Manzanilla Sherry and Dry Vermouth with 2 dashes each Angostura and Orange Bitters. Dry Vermouth take on an Adonis.

Brandy Alexander
Equal parts VS Cognac/Brandy, White Creme de Cacao, and Heavy Cream

Antibes
Supposedly first concocted by Ernest Hemmingway in the town of the same name where he, F Scott Fitzgerald, and Pablo Picasso frequented on the French Riviera between Cannes and Nice. It is said that he made this instead of a Daiquiri because he didn’t have any rum.

The most variable cocktail in the book. Everyone makes their own different recipe but the most common ingredients are tomato juice, lemon juice, worcestershire sauce, tobasco, horseradish, salt, celery salt, and black pepper to taste with a celery stick.
Pour ingredients into a ice filled highball and stir. Celery stick is the mandatory garnish but many add much more than that.

Place a sugar cube on a napkin over the top of a Champagne glass and pour 3-4 dashes of bitters on the sugar cube. Fold the napkin and deposit the sugar cube into the bottom of the glass. Top with Champagne, express oils from a lemon peel and discard peel.

1/2oz simple syrup
Add syrup and mint leaves to the base of a glass and muddle. Add crushed ice and 1oz of Bourbon and stir. Add the rest of the Bourbon, cap with crushed ice and serve with straw and mint sprigs for garnish.

Soda Water

New York Sour

One Egg White
1 oz. Red Wine (fruit-driven)
Shake all ingredients except for the wine vigorously and strain into an ice filled Old Fashioned Glass. Use the back of a bar spoon to gently layer the red wine on top of the drink. Garnish with a flag(orange/lemon slice with a cherry)

Shake all but the sparkling wine with ice and strain into a cocktail glass Top with sparkling wine. Garnish with mint springs and/or lime wheel.
Old Fashioned
2 oz. Spirit(Typically American Whiskey)
2 Dashes of Bitters
1 Sugar Cube
Add enough water to the sugar cube to dissolve with muddling. Add bitters and Spirits, stir with ice, and strain over fresh ice. Garnish with Orange Peel

1 oz. Rye Whiskey
1 oz. Dry Vermouth
1 oz. Campari
Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with Lemon Twist

Muddle lime in Highball glass. Rim with salt and add ice. Build the drink over the ice in a highball glass and stir gently. Garnish with lime wedge.

It is recommended to pour the ingredients on top of eachother from another glass and not from a bottle. The back of a bar spoon will work too. Bottom up, this should start with the Maraschino, then the Curaçao, and then the Cognac. Serve in a fluted cordial glass.

Half of a Sugar Cube
Chill the low ball glass with ice water. Muddle the sugar cube and a splash of water in a mixing glass
Pour the ice water out of the lowball glass and add absinthe to rinse the glass. The residual water in the glass should cause the absinthe to loosh, and therefore become more aromatic. Add whiskey, bitters and the lemon peel to the mixing glass with the muddled sugar and bitters and stir with ice to chill.
Strain into the absinthe rinsed lowball glass.

12 eggs
3 oz. over proof Jamaican Rum
1 1/2 Tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground all spice
granulated sugar
Separate the yolks from whites. Beat the whites stiff, and the yolks until watery. Combine the yolks and whites and mix thoroughly while adding all of the spices and rum. Then, while mixing add sugar until the mixture achieves a batter like texture. This base will keep well refrigerated as it is full of sugar and alcohol.
Take 1 table spoon of the batter, add 2 ounces of brandy and stir in boiling water to desired dilution based on taste. Serve with a spoon in a mug.
