Clopidogrel Description
An inhibitor of platelet function

≥ 75yrs 75mg PO
Clopidogrel Pharmacology
Clopidogrel selectivelyinhibits the binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its platelet receptor, and the subsequent ADP - mediated activation of the GPIIb/IIIa complex, thereby inhibiting platelet aggregation.
Biotransformation of clopidogrel is necessary to produce inhibition of platelet aggregation. Clopidogrel acts by irreversibly modifying the platelet ADP receptor
Clopidogrel Side Effects
Abdominal Pain
Dyspepsia
Diarrhoea
Clopidogrel Additional Info
If the patient has been loaded with an anti-platlet medication (other than Aspirin), prior to the arrival of the practitioner, the patient shlould not have Clopidogrel administered
