Function of Chylomicron?
- Transports dietary TAG to adipose and other tissues
Function of Remnant?
- Delivers remaining dietary TAG to liver.
- Exchanges TAG for CE from HDL; delivers CE to the liver
Function of VLDL?
- Transports endogenously synthesized TAG to adipose tissue and to skeletal and heart muscle
- Exchanges TAG for CE from HDL
Function of IDL?
- Delivers remaining TAG and cholesterol to the liver.
- Exchanges TAG for CE from HDL. Delivers CE to the liver
Function of LDL?
- Delivers cholesterol to the liver and other cells, including steroidogenic cells
Function of HDL?
- Accepts cholesterol from peripheral cells, esterifies it, and transports the CEs to the liver
- Exchanges CE for TAG in VLDL, IDL and chylomicron remnants.
- Atheroprotective via enzymes such as paraoxonase that inhibit LDL oxidation
- Serves as reservoir for circulating apoproteins (A,C,and E), which are transported to other lipoprotein particles
What transports dietary lipids?
Chylomicrons
What transports endogenous lipids?
VLDL, IDL, LDL
What does Apo CII do?
Activates lipoprotein lipase
What does apo A1 do?
Activates of lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT)
What is Apo E a receptor for?
Remant
What is Apo B 100 a receptor for?
LDL
