What is plant diseases are caused by the three main pathogens?
Viruses
Bacteria
Fungi
What is the tobacco mosaic virus?
It is the common pathogen of many plants.
It gets its name because it causes the leaves to be infected and have discoloured patterns on the leaves that resemble a mosaic.
It is a viral disease for plants.
It reduces the amount of photosynthesis and the amount of glucose produce for growth.
What is the rose blackspot disease?
It is a fungal disease for plants
it infects many roses.
What is rice blast?
It is caused by the fungus. It can infect wheat, rye and barley.
It produces lesions (rough bumpy areas) on rice stems and leaves.
What are nematode worms!
Small, multicellular, work like animals. Live freely in the soil and are harmless to plants however some are found in plant roots and destroy them.
Why are Aphids?
Tiny insects that are found in large numbers sucking the sap from the stems of the plant.
What are the variety of symptoms of disease that infected plants?
Stunted growth Spots or growths on leaves or stems Malformed stems or leaves Discolouration Areas of decay (rotting) The presence of pets
