what does the daily check of the scba include?

A

a - inspect cylinder and harness, including air cylinder retention collar for visible damage

b - check air cylinder pressure

c - inspect the high pressure hose for signs of wear or damage

d - inspect high pressure hose couple for tightness and teflon seal for damage or looseness

e - fully open air cylinder valve

f - check the pass alarm warns after approx 20 seconds

g - check the chest mount console gauge. a pressure diff of 300-400 psi or more should be reported to air room. tag and send both the bottle and the harness to the air room

h - close air cylinder valve

i - check the alarming systems function: bleed air from regulator, vibralert and cricket alarm will activate at approximately 1200 psi chest guage pressure.

j - deactivate pass

k - inspect harness including hold down clip, for wear, damage and cleanliness

l - extend and straighten all straps
