The chain of command is the pathway of responsibility from the highest to the lowest lvl of the dept. the chain of command operates based on UofC

the principle that a person can report to only one officer (supervisor).

Directly, each subordinate reports to their designated officer.

Indirdctly, everyone reports to the fire chief through the chain of command
