Q

Why use fog nozzles?

A

Fog streams can be adjusted to suit diff circumstances and diff amounts of water

they absorb more heat then solid streams and aid in ventilation

Q

list 6 guidelines to follow before entering a structure?

A

make sure both the nozzle person and the backup ff are on the same side of the hoseline.

check exterior door for heat and be alert to possible backdraft or flashover

ensure ventilation is ready to be setup

bleed air from charged hose before entering

ensure you have right nozzle pattern

stay low and try not to block ventilation openings

Q

list guideline for attacking an enclosed structure fire?

A

Approach and attack fire from the unburned side to prevent fire spread.

keep low

stay to the side of entrances

do not open the hose nozzle until u encounter fire unless u need a protective stream

use penciling to control atmosphere

direct the stream at the base of a localized fire

use a fog stream only if adequate vent has been achieved

if u must back out of an area, keep the fire stream operating until everyone is in a safe area

use your senses to pick out signals from the environment

6 guidelines for attacking a vehicle fire?

A

stage emerg vehicle away from hazards

identify if vehicle has TDG placards - is hazmat necessary

attempt to approach upwind and uphill

approach vehicle from the corners (45 degree angle)

ex fire near occupants

ex any ground fires
