It acquired it’s name from a description of an upside-down ziggurat formation, each level overhanging the one below.
Ishtar Gate
It was a ceremonial gate on the north side of the city of Babylon, it was connected to a seventy foot ceremonial road so the god Marduk could progress along it in the New Year’s festival.
Jehoiachin
He is the teenage son of Jehoiakim, he was only on the throne for several weeks after his father died, and he was probably offered immunity from Nebuchadnezzar and he gave the throne away.
Jehoiakim
He was a king who switched alliances, away from Necho II (who had placed him on the throne) to Babylon. He died in 597 at the age of thirty-six.
Zedekiah
He was the uncle of Jehoiachin, he was assigned by Nebuchadnezzar to be a Babylonian governor.
