Q

3 functions of blood

A
  1. Transportation: blood transports oxygen from the lungs to the cells of the body and carbon dioxide from the body cells to the lungs for exhalation; carries nutrients from the GI tract to body cells and hormones from endocrine glands to body cells
  2. Regulation: regulates pH through the use of buffers; adjusts body temperature; blood osmotic pressure influences the water content of cells
  3. Protection: blood can clot which protects against excessive loss from the cardiovascular system; white blood cells and antibodies protect against disease
