just above the chostochondral junction at approximately the seventh or eighth intercostal space, cranial to the rib

Long standing effusions result in small restricted lungs covered with fibrotic pleura. In people this is divided into trapped and entrapped lungs. Describe the difference.

Entrapped - occurs during active pleural disease, trapped lungs follow recovery from prior pleural space disease
