chapter 14- applying extinction Flashcards
1
Q
escape extinction
A
when a behaviour is negatively reinforced, extinction means the person no longer escapes from the aversive stimulus following the behaviour.
- ie. mary a 3-year old admitted to hospital due to total food refusal was r-presented with food until she ate
2
Q
treatment fidelity
A
- means implementing a procedure exactly as planned
3
Q
how to apply extinction
A
- define problem behaviour and collect data
- conduct a functional assessment
- eliminate the reinforcement for the problem behaviour
- consider the schedule of reinforcement for the problem behaviour
- reinforce alternative behaviour
- promote generalization and maintenance
4
Q
contingent attention
A
- tinas mother provided social disapproval when Tina twirled her hair
5
Q
non-contingent attention
A
- tinas mother say next to her and would rub her back and talk to her.
6
Q
CRF continuous reinforcement
A
- reinforcer (applesauce or pretzels) delivered after every target behaviour
7
Q
EXT (extinction phase)
A
reinforcer is no longer delivered
- ie. no more snacks are delivered
8
Q
generalization
A
-TB occurs across DIFFERENT situations that differ from the training situations
9
Q
maintenace
A
- behaviour change persists over time after the b-mod program ends
10
Q
when to not apply extinction
A
- group settings and imitation
11
Q
when to not apply extinction
A
- group settings and imitation
- extreme behaviours
