Chapter 14 Flashcards
OPT Model
program design
purposeful system or plan to help an individual achieve specific goal
acute variables
important components that specify how each exercise is carried out
All Acute Variables (9)
reps, sets, intensity, tempo, volume, rest interval, frequency, duration, exercise selection
RSITVRFDE
training intensity
individual’s levels of effort compared to their maximal effort (usually expressed as %)
training volume
amount of physical training performed in a specified period
training frequency
number of training sessions in a specified period (usually a week)
annual plan
generalized plan that spans one year and shows progress between phases (macrocycle)
monthly plan
generalized plan that spans one months and shows which phases are required which day of the week (mesocycle)
weekly plan
training plan of specific workouts that spans 1 week and what to do each day (mircocycle)
Rep Tempo (ABC)
A- eccentric, B- isometric, C- concentric (pushup is 4/2/1)
rest interval
time taken to recuperate between sets (replenish ATP and PC supplies)
training duration
2 meanings: time frame of workout or length of time spent in phase of training
