A

What is a supervise job search?

A

Participant is required to submit 20 employment applications in person or online

What is the workfare program?

A

The recipient will have to complete the hours assigned by the social worker to meet his work fair program requirement. The required hours are determined by dividing the CalFresh allotment amount by the state minimum wage, or federal minimum wage whichever is higher.

Are there exemptions to being required to participate in the employment and training program?

A

Yes, there are exemptions
younger than 16 of age or older than 60
people between 16 or 17 who are not the head of household or who are attending school or enrolled in employment training program at least half time
mentally or physically unfit for employment
registered in a CalWorks employment service program
a parent or other household member caring for a child under six or a disabled person
receiving or applying for UIB
A regular participant in a drug addiction or alcohol treatment rehabilitation program,
employed or self-employed individual with work hours of 30 hours or wages total in the federal minimum wage multiplied by 30
a student who is enrolled, at least halftime in a recognize school training program or institution of higher learning, and has met the student exemption of eligibility conditions

Can a calfresh recipient choose to volunteer for the employment and training program?

A

Yes, they may volunteer as long as they’re able to complete the assignments

What needs to be done if a person is exempt from the employment and training criteria?

A

Case comments must be clear and need to be entered in CalWIN about the status of participation and why customer is exempt if here she meets one of the exemption criteria

A

General relief / calfresh recipients are required to participate in the E&T program

If a calfresh only recipient, they may volunteer to participate and they’ll be referred to the E&T social worker for assessment interview

A

They will be eligible for a transportation allowance allowance monthly transportation passes will be issued by the GR worker for GR recipients while the CFET social worker will continue to issue transportation for CFET volunteers

A

Veterans who are honorably discharged from the US Armed Forces and
participates in a substitute program. An example would be refugees enrolled in one of the result resettlements agencies (RA)program.

What happens if a person fails to comply with the employment and training program?

A

If it’s for calfresh, only, their participation is voluntary, and there will be no sanctions if they do not comply
For Cal Works cases, if customer fails to comply with employment services, they’ll be sanction for calfresh as well unless they meet an exemption. They will be removed from the employment and training program and will no longer be eligible for transportation allowance. If they made a calfresh exemption they will remain eligible for calfresh,

When a participant starts a new job what are they required to report?

A

They are to report to the E & T social worker
The employers name
The type of job and position
Job start date
If it is full or part time
Wages
And if we know the hours also report

Is it important for the HSS worker to check display employment services exemption window when working in CalWINs?

A

Yes, they must. The worker must check it and make sure it is correct and save those exemptions if they have exemptions them.

What do you need to do if you are making changes in the CalWIN windows?

A

Always make sure to update the date in the windows so that the dates do not overlap and always remember to enter case comments about the registration status

What needs to be done with a CFET regarding employment and training in the CalWin windows?

A

They ALWAYS need to be banked to the appropriate FRC bank
