Conflict
An interpersonal process that arises from disagreements over the goals to attain.
Workplace incivility
Occurs when employees feel to exhibit concern and regard for others or, worse yet, disrespect for each other on the job
Assertiveness
The process of expressing feelings, asking for a legitimate changes, and giving and receiving honest feedback
Interpersonal facilitation
The capacity to focus on others personal needs, sensitivities, and idiosyncrasies and then work to keep conflict under control and elaboration hi among team members
Stroking
Any act of recognition for another
Positive strokes
Positive strokes feel good when they are received, and contribute to the recipients sense of well-being and self-esteem
Negative strokes
These hurt physically or emotionally and make the recipients feel less proud of themselves
Mixed stroke
And example of a mix stroke would be “this is a good advertising layout, considering the small experience you had in this field”
Conditional strokes
These are offered to employees if they perform correctly or avoid problems
Unconditional strokes
These are presented without any connection to behavior.
Power
The ability to influence other people and events
The five bases of power
The five bases of power are; personal power, legitimate power, expert power, reward power, coercive power
Personal power
This comes from each leader individually. Is the ability of leaders to develop followers from the strength of their own personalities
Legitimate power
This arises from the culture of society by which power is delegated legitimately from higher established authorities to others
Expert power
This comes from specialize learning it is a power that arises from a person’s knowledge of information about a complex situation
Reward power
It arises from an individual’s ability to get pay raises, recommend someone for promotion or transfer, or even make favorable work assignments
Coercive power
This power can threaten employees job security, make changes to someone’s work schedule, or at the extreme administrate physical force
Organizational politics
This refers to intentional behaviors that are used to enhance or protect a person’s influence and self interest but also inspiring confidence and trust in others
Norm of reciprocity
This is where two people in a continuing relationship feel a strong application to repay their social “debts” to each other
Posturing
Pasta and consists of positioning oneself for visibility, making sure the others know about your successes
Self monitors
Self manager or someone who is adopted regulating of self and adapting to situational and interpersonal cues
Impression management
This is the ability to protect enhance one’s self image will intentionally affecting another assessment of them
