What can you use Windows Media Player for
- to play music, video and movie files
- it helps us to organise our digital media collection
- we can burn CDs (copying data FROM a computer TO a CD)
- rip CDs (copying data/songs from audio CDs TO our computer)
How to start Windows Media Player
Start –> All Programs –> Windows Media Player
What can we use the Navigation Pane for
to choose a category such as Music, Pictures or Videos
What we can use Library view for (in the media player)
access + organise our digital media collection
What are the different sections of the taskbar and their uses?
- Start button - opens start menu
- Quick launch menu - shows us the programs we have opened + lets us switch between
- Notification area - includes clock + icons
What are the steps to ripping a CD
- Open Windows Media Player by quick - searching it in the Start Menu.
- Insert a CD into the PC’s CD drive
- Select the ‘Rip CD’ button
- Then we can select individual songs to rip
- To select a different format, we have to select the ‘Rip Settings Menu’ and then choose Format/Audio Quality.
- We will find the tracks we have ripped, moved and saved into the ‘Music’ folder by default

What are four benefits of using the taskbar
- The Taskbar helps us to multitask
- Using the taskbar, we can easily switch between and work with multiple windows.
- The taskbar provides a clock as well as icons [that communicate the status of certain programs and settings]
- We can get quick search results using the search options in the Start Menu
