Cellular respiration and Photosynthesis Flashcards
what goes in to glycolysis?
glucose and 2 ATP
what happens to the glucose in glycolysis
it is broken in half to create two G3P molecules which release energy to become two pyruvate molecules
the pyruvate molecules from glycolysis are oxidized to become
acetyl CoA
net products from glycolysis:
2 acetyl CoA, 2 NADH, 2 ATP
citric acid cycle uses 1 acetyl CoA per cycle but
there are two produced from glycolysis
what goes into the citric acid cycle:
acetyl CoA, NAD+, FAD
net products of citric acid cycle:
2 ATP, 6 NADH, 2 FADH2 and 2CO2
ATP produced by oxidative phosphorylation
26 or 28
in glycolysis, how is the ATP produced?
substrate level phosphorylation (does NOT use ATP synthase)
___ + ____ = ATP
ADP + P
since glucose is more ordered than CO2 and water, what happens to entropy due to cellular respiration?
it increases and energy is released
what goes into the light reactions?
H20, light, ADP, NADP+
what comes out of the light reactions?
O2, NADPH, ATP
Calvin cycle location
stroma
light reactions location
thylakoid membrane
