Q

what is the mechanism of action of amoxicillin

A

competitively inhibits penicillin-binding protein 1
Penicillin bind proteins are responsible for glycotransferase and transpeptidase reactions that lead to cross-linking of D-alanine and D-aspartic acid in bacterial cell walls
Helicobactor pylori is an inhibitor - penicillin binding protein
Amoxicillin competitively inhibits penicillin binding proteins, leading to up regulation of autolytic enzymes and inhibition of cell wall synthesis

Q

what is the mechanism of action of clarithromycin

A

it inhibits bacterial synthesis by binding to the bacterial 505 ribosomal subunit

binding inhibits peptifyl transferase activity and interferes with amino acid translocation
