What is an anaphylactic reaction?
In an anaphylactic reaction the entire body is affected by the release of chemical substances by the immune system. These chemicals produce life threatening reactions in the airway, lungs, blood vessels, and heart.
What are some signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis?
Warm tingling itching skin, hives, flushed skin, labored breathing, tachycardia, anxiety, itchy watery eyes, runny nose, “ not feeling well”
What are some treatments for anaphylaxis?
Maintain a patent airway, suction if necessary, be prepared to assist in ventilation, maintain adequate oxygenation, administer Epinepherine, consider ALS, initiate early transport.
What is an allergic reaction?
It is a misdirected and excessive response by the immune system to an allergen.
