What are the indications of use for Aspirin?
It is is given to patients with signs/symptoms of ischemic chest pain
What his the drug action for Aspirin?
Anti-inflammatory, relieves fever, and impedes blood clotting
What are the contraindications of giving Aspirin?
Allergy to the drug, bleeding disorders ( Thromboxytopenia, Hemophilia, Von Willebrands), children, active bleeding, affirmative answer to any question in special notes
What are the side effects for Aspirin?
Nausea, GI bleeding, rash, tinnitus
What are some special notes about Aspirin?
Low doses are more effective for anti-clotting, prescribed daily dose, pregnancy category D, ask patient: have you taken any aspirin already today? If so how much?, are you allergic to aspirin?, do you have any bleeding disorders?, prescribed daily blood thinner is NOT a contraindication for administration, may precipitate asthma related problems with known history of asthma.
What is the usual dose for Aspirin?
162-324 mg chewable tablets (2-4 baby aspirin). 1 aspirin is 81 mg.
What are you going to monitor report and document when administering Aspirin?
Vital signs within 5 minutes after administration.
