Strengthening
Anterior neck burn
Avoid neck flexion; remove pillows, use half mattress to extend neck, neck extension splint
Axilla burn
Avoid adduction; 120 degree abduction with slight external rotation; axillary splint or wedge; watch for signs of brachial plexus strain
Anterior elbow burn
Avoid flexion; extension splint in 5-10 degrees flexion
Dorsal wrist burn
Avoid wrist extension; splint in neutral
Volar wrist burn
Avoid wrist flexion; splint in 5-10 degrees extension
Dorsal hand burn
Avoid claw deformity; splint with MP joints in 70-90 degrees, IP fully extended, thumb in opposition
Volar hand burn
Avoid palmar contracture or cupping; use palmar extension splint with MP in slight hyperextension
Anterior hip burn
Avoid hip flexion; use prone positioning, place weight on thighs when in supine, and use knee immobilizers
Knee burn
Avoid knee flexion; use knee extension positioning and splints, prevent external rotation
Foot burn
Avoid foot drop; splint with ankle 90 degrees but watch for heel ulcers
