- Transmits messages from CNS to body muscles and glands in the body

  • Transmits info from receptor cells in the sense organs to CNS
  • Receives info from CNS and governs muscle movement

  • Transmits info to and from internal bodily organs
  • Autonomic meaning it operates involuntary
  • Governs vital functions like breathing, heart rate, digestion, sexual arousal and stress responses
