- One of body’s major info systems that instructs glands to release hormones into blood stream
- Hormones carried towards target organs in body
- Communicate via chemicals

- Organ that produces substances like hormones
- Examples: Thyroid, adrenal

- Chemical substance that circulate blood stream and only affect target organs
- Produced in large quantities but disappear quickly
- Effects are powerful
- Examples: adrenaline, testosterone

Fight or flight response
A
- Way an animal responds when stressed
- Body becomes physiologically aroused in readiness to fight aggressor or flee.

Adrenaline
A
- Hormone produced by the adrenal gland
- Part of body’s immediate stress response system
- Strong effects on cardiovascular system
- Stimulates heart rate, contractions of blood vessels and dilating air passages
