Q

what is the risk assessment of the microscopy experiment

A
  • stains - irritation to skin and eyes - wash hands and wear protection
  • lamp - can burn if gets too hot - don’t leave it on for too long
  • cutting tissue samples - can cut yourself or others - take care and keep a safe distance

Q

describe the method of the microscopy experiment

A
  1. cut tissue sample
  2. place tissue sample on microscope slide
  3. add a few drops of stain
  4. lower coverslip onto the tissue
  5. place the slide onto the microscope stage and focus on the cells using the low power
  6. change to higher powered lens and focus
  7. draw any types of cell that can be seen
  8. add magnification scale to diagram
