Spinal cord injury ( T-5 or above

A
Noxious stimuli such as a ful bladder or fecal impaction

Why is autonomic dysreflexia so serious?
A
Life threatening due to clients extremely HYPERTENSIVE

What are the signs of autonomic dysreflexia?
A
Increase in BP 40mm Hg, headache, bradycardia, blurred vision, sweating

What should be done during an episode?
A
Place client in High Fowler’s (1st)
check for bladder distention.
loosen restrictive clothing.

what is the treatment?
A
Removal of the stimuli
Patient needs to void/ bowelmovement
