Ideas charged with emotion that produce specific behaviour to a specific situation

Socialisation- cultural values that are learnt by associating with others
If the behaviour is negative and praise is given for negative behaviour it will continue to be negative

A challenge to existing beliefs causing “disharmony” in an individual and motivation to change attitudes.
- Make activity fun

- Give new info to person to promote positive behaviour

Core beliefs are stable
The message must be understood and be given at the right time by someone of high status/role model
