Describe secure attachment
Distressed when mother leaves, avoidant of stranger, happy when mum returns and uses mum as a safe base to explore their environment.
Describe insecure ambivalent attachment
Distressed when mother leaves, avoids stranger, shows fear, child resists contact when mum returns
Describe avoidant attachment
No sign of distress when mother leaves, OK with stranger and plays normally when stranger is present. Shows little interest when mother returns.
What is the definition of attunement?
The process between caregiver and infant where they are able to tune in to each other’s physical and emotional states.
What are some signs of disordered attachment?
