A Portuguese wine brought into Japan during the 16th century. A combination of Portuguese term for red (tinta) and the Japanese word for liquor (shu)

What is Hokkaido?
Hokkaido is a wine region in Japan, in the frigid north (the northernmost of Japan’s islands). it is Japan’s 2nd GI. Koshu, Muscat Bailey-A and Pinot Noir are the dominant grape varieties.

Koshu is a grape native to Japan, grown since the 8th century. It is pink skinned and makes light bodied white wines as well as sparkling wines.
What is Chintashu?
A term for wine that was brought to Japan by Portuguese missionaries in the 16th century. It is the equivalent of the Portuguese word “red” (tinta) and the Japanese word “liquor” (shu)

Describe Yunnan
Yunnan is a wine region in China located south of the Yangtze River. It shares a border with Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar. It is outside the normal growing range for grapes (21-29 degrees latitude) but are grown at higher altitudes. Rose Honey, Crystal, French Wild, and Cabernet Sauvignon are the most grown grapes in the region.
Where are the Grace Vineyards?
The Grace Vineyards are in Shanxi, China. It is one of China’s most renowned wineries in terms of quality, reputation, and world-class facilities for tasting/tourism.
Describe Xinjiang.
Xinjiang is a wine region located in the extreme west of China with a long history of wine production, with remains of vinifera vines from the 4th century found. Also mentioned by Marco Polo in 13th Century. The wine grape regions are north of the Tien Shan Mountains and to the south around the perimeter of the Takla Makan Desert.
Where is the Heshuo/Hoxud Region?
The Heshuo/Hoxud region is located in the Xinjiang province in China. It received GI status in 2015.
